Driving
Driving in an unfamiliar country can seem a daunting
prospect, especially if you are used to driving on the
other side of the road. Most of the road signs in
Luxembourg are international and will be familiar to you
but there are a couple of basic rules, which you might not
be familiar with:
Priority right
Many roads have ‘priority right’ turning, meaning that the
car coming from the right-hand turning takes priority over
you, even though you might be driving along a main road
and they are coming from a side turning.
Town signs
When entering a town or village, you will see a yellow sign with the town’s name.
This doesn’t only indicate where you are but that you must slow to 50km/h, even though it might not be indicated anywhere. Once through the village you will see another yellow town-name sign with the name crossed through in red. Unless otherwise indicated this means the speed restriction is over.
