PHD funding

The major instrument of the FNR to fund individual researchers at PHD level is the AFR grant scheme. The AFR PHD’s activities are organised on the basis of an on-going call with 2 cut off dates per year.

Call are open for researdchers of any nationality and age based on the following criteria: scientific quality of the project; profile of the candidate; quality of the host institution; interest of the research projects in the Luxembourg R&D setting. Other funding opportunities from the FNR for the postdoc researchers are its Accompanying Measures: AM2 - training and mobility, in particular: AM2a – participation in scientific conferences; AM2b – training for researchers (including summer schools); AM2c – mobility grants/incoming and outgoing (from the 3rd year of PHD onwards for two weeks up to one year); AM4 – scientific publications (including PDH thesis).
