Postdoctoral funding
| The major instrument of the FNR to fund individual researchers at postdoc level is the AFR grant scheme. The AFR postdoc activities are organised on the basis of an on-going call with two cut off dates per year: |
| Researchers are eligible for both a PHD grant followed by postdoc grant under the condition that they change the country where they have been primarily located during the last two years. | ||||||
| Calls are open for researchers of any nationality and age (having finalised their PDH no more than eight years before the start of their project). Grants are awarded on the basis of the following criteria:

FNR’s ATTRACT programme
| The FNR also has an excellence programme called ATTRACT where annual calls are launched in November of each year. To be eligible researchers need to have completed their PHD between two and eight years ago and not yet based in Luxembourg. Comparable to the ERC grants of the Seventh Framework Programme, the ATTRACT programme funds projects of up to 1 million EUR over five years. The idea is for the successful candidate to set up a small research group and build up excellence in his/her research domain and reach international recognition. They also have to find a public research institution within Luxembourg or the university to host their project. More information can be found on www.fnr.lu |
