The *Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research (ISD)* offers a
h1. *Postdoctoral position (clearing and light-sheet microscopy imaging)*
Located on the biomedical campus of Ludwig-Maximilians University (ranked as the top University in Germany according to Times Higher Education World University Rankings) the Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research (ISD) is part of a vibrant research community and a major partner in the DFG-funded Excellence Cluster “SyNergy”.
h3. *The project:*
The project will be on research conducted within the topical focus of the DFG-funded Excellence Cluster “SyNergy” and supervised by Mr. Dr. Ertürk, who has developed powerful imaging technologies by converting biological tissues into transparent structures and subsequent imaging by light-sheet microscopy (e.g. see Ertürk et al., Nature Medicine 2012, Pan…Ertürk, Nature Methods 2016, Cai…Ertürk, Nature Neuroscience 2019). Aside from working on his own project the candidate will be responsible for the SyNergy Mesoscale Technology Hub. As such the candidate will contribute to highly ambitious projects of the SyNergy Excellence Cluster including on neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, neurovascular, and stem cell research.
h3. *Your profile:*
We are looking for a candidate with interest in fluorescent microscopy imaging with a particular interest in usage of tissue clearing and light-sheet microscopy. The candidate should have solid understanding of neuroscience, a strong technical background, and communicative skills.
h3. *The position:*
The position will be in an international, multidisciplinary, and open-door atmosphere, with access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. The lab is fully equipped with the most recent technologies including Lavision light-sheet microscopy systems.
The duration of the project is from July 1st, 2019 till June 30th, 2022 with performance review and the possibility of extension. Salary will be based on German public employment guidelines (TV-L).
