YOUR TASKS

 

  • To be the responsible for the execution of a research project, in which you will solve problems independently but also collaborate with colleagues.
  • To work in a team, not only inside Ghent University, but also in an international consortium, collaborating in the frame of EC funded projects.
  • To develop and validate, in the frame of these research projects, new electrochemical sensors for the detection of osteoporosis and cervical cancer related biomarkers.
  • To properly report your research results, in the form of written reports and oral presentations
  • To be prepared to travel, mainly inside Europe, for short duration (2-3 days) meetings (e.g. project consortium meetings).

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

  • You hold a Master’s degree or thesis-based doctorate in Sciences or Engineering (Chemical/Biochemical/Biomedical/ sciences).
  • You are interested in practical work, especially sample preparation, electrochemical measurement set-up, etc.
  • You have extensive experience with electrochemistry
  • You like to work in (interdisciplinary) research projects and you have the ability to discuss and communicate your work with people of different backgrounds.
  • You are a motivated person, with a strong curiosity and a genuine wish to learn more and develop your skills and knowledge further
  • You take responsibility for the managing and execution of your project in a well-structured, thorough way, both by solving problems independently and by instructing and collaborating with others.
  • You are proficient in oral and written English and have strong communication skills.
  • You have a team player mindset and work in a result-oriented manner.

 

 

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

 

  • We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 12 months.
  • Your contract will start on 1/06/2021 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate).  Click here for more information about our salary scales.
