Summary: One research position for a Research Grant (“Bolsa de Investigação de Mestre”) is open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the MIT-Portugal Project SNOB-5G: Scalable Network Backhauling for 5G, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Regional Operational Programme of Centre (CENTRO 2020) of the Portugal 2020 framework and by National Public Funds through FCT I.P. (OE) [Project SNOB-5G with Nr. 045929 (CENTRO-01-0247-FEDER-045929)]. The work for this position is in the area of 5G wireless backhaul high-speed networks.

Admission Requirements: Master degree in telecommunications engineering, informatics and telematics engineering, or equivalent, with knowledge in the area of communication networks, great-motivation and ability for teamwork. The candidates must be enrolled in a doctoral program.

Work Objectives: Definition, implementation and evaluation of self-organizing mechanisms in wireless backhaul high-speed networks, and of edge-communication and computing in wireless backhaul high-speed networks.

Applicable legislation: A fellowship will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT, “Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações’ fellowships” and “Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”, according to Law no. 40/2004, dated August 18 (Status of Scientific Research Fellow), in its actual redaction, and also by Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P. Fellowship Regulation of Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia. Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Profª. Susana Sargento.

Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. Start date: March 2021 or soon thereafter.

Monthly salary: 1074.64€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.
