The Medical University of Innsbruck, located in the heart of the Austrian Alps, is the largest and most important medical research andeducation facility in the West of Austria. We currently teach and train over 3,300 students in six Bachelor-, Master- and Doctoral Programs, most of them in Medicine. A dedicated staff of more than 2,100 employees covers all relevant fields from basic research to theclinical sciences.

We offer qualified candidates a tenure track position according to the § 99 (5) Austrian Federal Act on the Organisation of Universitiesand their Studies (Universities Act 2002 – UG) and agreements based on rules laid down in a general contract for employees of AustrianUniversities (`Universitätskollektivvertrag ́) as announced in: Mitteilungsblatt der Medizinischen Universität Innsbruck vom 12.06.2019,Studienjahr 2018/2019, 45. Your main tasks:

  • the establishment of a research group in the field of Experimental Neuroscience of LanguageAcquisition
  • conducting experimental research in the fiels of language acquisition and processing in infants, children, adults and patients by me-ans of neuroscientific methods of electroencephalography and functional near-infrared spectroscopy
  • acquiring national and international third-party funding and leading the respective studies
  • teaching and supervising students in the programs of the University

Selection process

The current position (full-time employment) commences with a 6-year contract based on a mutually accorded qualification agreement. If the qualification goals are met following a positive evaluation, the contract can be extended indefinitely with the job title of `associateprofessor ́.

A salary based on group B1 (or A2 after fullfilment of a qualification agreement based on a positive evaluation) of the collective contract (`Universitätskollektivvertrag ́) for Austrian university employees.

Specific Requirements

Requirements:

  • PhD or a comparable qualification
  • excellent research and publication record
  • potential to head an independent scientific research group
  • experience in the conception, acquisition and management of third-party funded research projects
  • teaching experience as well as the willingness to be involved in the further development of medical studies
  • willingness to participate in interdisciplinary and translationally oriented research
  • expertise in neuroscientific methods of electroencephalography (EEG) and functional nearinfrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in humans
  • designated experience in conducting and evaluating experimental neuroscientific research in the area of language acquisition andprocessing including involved cognitive functions, in particular in infants and adult patients with diverse acquired and developmentallanguage-related disorder
