YOUR TASKS
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven new colleague to join the conect4children Belgian national hub team.
- Our main goal is to provide babies, children and adolescents with better medicines.
- UGent’s department of internal medicine and paediatrics is participating as the Belgian national hub in a large EU funded project, aimed to build a European-wide paediatric trial network: conect4children (c4c, IMI2 grant agreement No 777389, https://conect4children.org/). C4c endeavours a sustainable, integrated platform for efficient and swift delivery of high quality clinical trials in children and young people across conditions and phases of drug development in Europe. C4c is committed to meeting the needs of paediatric patients thanks to a novel collaboration between the academic and the private sectors, which includes 35 academic and 10 industry partners from 20 European countries, and more than 50 third parties and around 500 affiliated partners. This position presents an unique opportunity to be part of largest European paediatric research infrastructure and ultimately contribute to new effective and safe medicines for children. You will work within a team of highly experienced people with extensive backgrounds. - As the Belgian national hub we are the liaison between the European c4c network and the Belgian Paediatric Clinical Research Network (BPCRN). We are partner in several work packages of the c4c project including data management, business plan development and conduction of academic and industry paediatric clinical trials to test the viability of the network. We are about to start both academic and industry c4c clinical trials within the Belgian network. As clinical project manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and will follow-up of the different work packages and c4c clinical trials in Belgium. You will be the primary point of contact for the clinical trials in Belgium, for all Belgian sites as well as the sponsors. You are also responsible for managing the budget, timelines and reporting to the sponsor and c4c network on the status of the studies, metrics and progress of the project.
- This project has started in May 2018 and ends in April 2024.
- The c4c project is up and running in Belgium and we're looking for a project manager.
- Your day-to-day activities will include:
- Project management of several c4c academic and industry clinical trials in Belgium simultaneously including trial feasibilities, contracting, budget negotiations, communication with ethics committees and regulatory authorities, reporting on metrics, risk management, etc.
- Ensure project delivery under defined budget, timeframe and quality level
- Manage several tasks in parallel across different work packages by keeping a helicopter view of project deadlines, milestones and deliverables
- Building strong relations within the national network and with international academic and industry partners
- Organize and attend to teleconferences and face-to-face meetings across the Belgium and Europe
- Create newsletters and ensure good flow of information between the different partners within the network
- Financial reporting according to the European IMI rules to the coordinator and management of the national hub budget in collaboration with central UGent department
- Ensure adequate entry of metrics and project status information into various tracking tools
- Contribute to the further development of a sustainable Belgian national network, including its governance and procedures.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a Master’s degree or a thesis-based doctorate (or equivalent due to experience) in life sciences (Medicine, Veterinary sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedicine sciences or similar discipline)
- Knowledge and good understanding of clinical trials and GCP
- Constructive mindset and real team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: fluently in English and Dutch, French is a plus
- Highly organised and excellent planning and prioritizing skills
- Result oriented approach, critical analysis and solution driven thinking.
- Ability to manage and keep oversight on multiple tasks and activities in parallel and changing priorities
- Flexibility to travel occasionally (1-3 days a month max.) both nationally and through Europe
- Demonstrable experience with project management in a life science, pharmaceutical or academic environment is a plus
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of indefinite duration.
- Your contract will start on 22/02/2021 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
