National PhD Welcome Day

Luxembourg welcomes 277 new PhD candidates

On 5 October, Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law organised the 2022 edition of the National PhD Welcome Day. This year, 277 young researchers have chosen Luxembourg as a research destination to kick off their scientific career. In total, 1,027 people are conducting a PhD in Luxembourg.

The 2022 National PhD Welcome Day gave first-year doctoral candidates in Luxembourg the opportunity to network with their peers, student associations, research actors and final-year PhD candidates to get a glimpse of what their research journey will be like. They also learned more about the resources needed to succeed in their research career.

Mediation a first step to resolve a conflict

Mediation is an amicable dispute resolution process with a pacifist approach. Mediation is a voluntary process, non authoritarian. Mediation may be held at any venue and location so long as it is acceptable to the parties, comfortable enough and has all the facilities needed for effective conferencing. Finally, both parties explore various alternatives together for a solution and determine what is best for them, taking into account their needs and expectations in a collaborative approach. Within the Luxembourg research ecosystem, ombudspersons are active in most institutes, research centres and at the university:
